With summer just around the corner, we're excited about the sunny season's hottest wedding trends. From outdoor ceremonies to flower crowns and tropical colour schemes, we've got you covered for planning your summer wedding.

Get outdoors
More and more couples are opting for less traditional, alfresco weddings, and summer is the perfect season to celebrate outside. Gardens, wineries and beaches are picturesque places to tie the knot, and spaces can be transformed as little or much as you like to create a relaxed or formal setting.
Outdoor weddings may require some extra planning to make your guests comfortable (including a bad weather back-up plan!), such as setting up shades or providing sun parasols, but the stunning natural backdrops to your ceremony or reception will be worth the organisation.

Summer dresses
If you're tying the knot in summer, chances are you won't want to be wearing something too heavy or structured. Perfect summer wedding dresses may be simple and lightweight while still elegant and timeless. Beach wedding dresses are sometimes shorter in length, while other summer wedding dresses may feature relaxed, flowing designs, sheer lace sleeves or stunning cutaway backs.

Flower crowns
One of the biggest trends this summer is the movement from wearing tiaras or veils to whimsical floral crowns. Ranging from small and delicate (baby's breath or garden daisies) to large and colourful (think Mexican artist Frida Kahlo), a floral crown or headpiece is perfect for a summer rustic- or boho themed wedding, especially if it's outdoors.

Fruity colours
We love bright, colourful summer weddings. Colours on trend this season are inspired by summer fruits: think peach and apricot, alongside teal, yellow or pink. Try to pick one or two statement hues and use them to theme the flowers, bridesmaids' outfits, and even the refreshments.

Summer cakes
Tiers of heavy fruitcake smothered in thick white icing? Not any more. Brides and grooms are getting creative with their wedding cakes, and the results are looking delicious. Your summer wedding cake could include vibrant colours and decorations, beach motifs, or be served with summer fruits and berries. In fact, it doesn't have to be technically a cake at all. Macarons, cupcake tiers, or even wheels of savoury cheese layered on top of each other are now replacing the traditional fruitcake and reflecting the personal taste of the couple.
