For a real wedding couple who both love golf, you can probably guess their theme. Complete with an antique gold dress… Priya and Mrinal got married in September 2010. Read on to find out all about it!

The proposal
The  couple  were  staying  in  a  traditional  country  house,  with  lots  of  other  couples  on  a  cricket  tour, when  Mrinal  proposed.  “He  took  me  aside  and  asked  if  I  wanted  to  go  for  a  walk  on  the  beach  –  I thought we were just going for a little stroll to get away from the crowds,” explains Priya. “While on the  beach,  Mrinal  got  down  on  knee  and  proposed,  to  great  applause  from  the  people  around  us!” adds Priya

The bride’s real wedding outfit
“My dream outfit was made using sari material cut into a Western-style dress, with a matching veil,” explains Priya. “The colour was antique gold, and the skirt was delicately fringed at the bottom. The blouse and skirt were intricately embellished  with jewels and the skirt had a beautiful long train,” she adds

The accessories
Priya bought all her glittering accessories, including her strappy sandals, from India. The colours were carefully chosen in shades of gold and amber, to perfectly match her bridal gown

The groom’s outfit
All  the  boys  looked  real  wedding  perfect  in  their  grey  morning  suits.  Mrinal  also  wore  a gold embroidered waistcoat to match his bride’s outfit “The girls accessorised their Ted Baker dresses with gold sashes and brooches I brought home from India”

The bridesmaids
Priya had two mesmerising girls wearing  Ted Baker  to accompany her down the aisle, as well as the
oh-so-cute Siya, her niece, as her flowergirl

The ceremony
String  quartet  performed  throughout  the  couple’s  intimate  ceremony,  which  also  included  three readings and a funny speech about golf (to tie in with the golfing theme of the day). “The other two readings were a little more traditional and romantic,” laughs Priya

The flowers
Lily  Flowers  created  Priya’s  elegant  cream  rose  bouquet,  and  also  provided  a  selection  of  fragrant blossoms for her to wear in her hair. They also designed and created the table centre displays using cream roses, lilies and a selection of twisted twigs and foliage “Inspired by Liz Hurley’s wedding, we organised a pre-ceremony cricket match for our guests!”

The cake
Priya  and  Mrinal’s  three-tier  chocolate  cake  was  glazed  to  match  the  tones  of  her  dress  and  had  a lovely  cascade  of  amber  and  gold  sugared  flowers  down  the  side.  The  cake  toppers  were  two  ivory figurines of a couple dancing

Fun for all!
Inspired  by  Liz  Hurley  and  Arun  Nayer’s  wedding,  the  couple  organised  a  cricket  match  before  their real  wedding.  “It  was  great  fun  and  really  bonded  our  two  families,”  says  Priya.  “I  had  to  tread  a careful line between supporting my future husband’s team and my Father’s!”

The honeymoon
“We  went  to  LA,  Las  Vegas  and  Mexico  for  our  honeymoon.  We  played  golf,  saw  various  shows, visited the Grand Canyon and were thoroughly spoilt with great food and drink!” smiles Priya.
