Every  bride  wants  to  be  well  heeled  and  comfortable  on  her  wedding  day,  so  we  have  asked  the
experts how to have a footastic day.

Comfort factor

Natural  fibres  are  still  the  favourites  for  couture  shoe  makers,  despite  the  advances  in  synthetic material. They not only look great and wear well; they are also the most comfortable.
You will still need to wear them in, and this can take some time. Remember you will be on your feet for around 10 hours so give yourself plenty of ‘wearing in’ time and be conservative when choosing your shoes. Stilettos may look fab, but when you’re almost in tears and decide enough’s enough, they are coming off, no-one will appreciate them anyway.

Fitting your shoe
  • Stockings will help you slide easily into shoes and keep all the shoes at the store clean.
  • Allow for swelling in the summer months, when you are considering size, most peoples feet swell up after they have been standing for long periods as well.
  • Your wedding shoes should be firm but not tight, and the pressure should be evenly spread.
  • Tight  shoes  will  cut  the  circulation  and  your  feet  will  ache.  Loose  shoes  you  will  give  you blisters where they rub against the skin.
  • Listen to the advice of a reputable retailer; they usually have plenty of experience.

Fashion trends

In  recent  years  cheeky  peep  toes,  stylish  sandals  and  sassy  slingbacks  have  developed  a  major presence in the bridal shoes market. Be sure to have a pedicure if your toes will be on show.
If you want sparkles, go for quality rhinestones, diamantes and trims. The better the bling, the more light it will refract, transforming your toesies and highlighting your heels.

When considering which wedding shoes to choose, ask yourself:
  • Will they make you tower over your beau?
  • Can you slow dance in them?
  • Will they get caught up in the carpet at the church or in the reception venue?
  • Do they have sufficient grip?

Above all you should adore your bridal shoes. They’re going to be one of your greatest assets on the day, and if you haven’t found the pair that set your heart a-flutter, don’t lose hope. Remember, like the perfect hubby, the perfect pair of shoes is out there somewhere.

Think of comfort and your best appearance first, then choose the shoes that you like.
